Family Medicine Interest Groups

(FMIG)

Learn about a career in family medicine in an informal and fun setting, and experience unique opportunities to practice a wide range of clinical skills and procedures,

Like other medical specialty interest groups prevalent on medical school campuses, Family Medicine Interest Groups (FMIGs) provide a forum for students interested in a particular area of medicine – family medicine.

FMIGs are student-run with oversight by a faculty advisor. Through these groups, students cultivate their interests and leadership potential, get involved in community service and mentoring activities, and focus on their future as family physicians.

What is an FMIG?

How do I join?

Reach out to the FMIG leaders on your campus, your medical school staff, or connect with one of the AAFP’s national FMIG Network leaders. Each campus family medicine interest group is part of a bigger picture. At the national level, the AAFP helps groups coordinate and share ideas, and provides resources and funding to support programming and organizational goals.
